Jay
Miller, is a professional aviation journalist and photographer. The
author of 36 books, including the officially sanctioned history of
Lockheed Martin's famous "Skunk Works", he is now semi-retired with his
wife Susan, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Miller's overriding interest in
aviation can be traced back to the early 1950s. A serious collector of
aviation books, magazines, and other such reference materials, he later
sold his library to the Aerospace Education Center in Little Rock,
Arkansas. It now serves as the core reference collection for the
institution. Weighing in excess of 21 tons, the Miller Aviation Library
- as it's now called - consists of some 7,500 volumes dating to 1765,
over 100,000 periodicals, the equivalent of over 80 four-drawer filing
cabinets of general reference materials, and over 700,000 photographic
images. Miller, who started photographing aircraft in the early 1960s,
now concentrates on aviation photography for a variety of north Texasclients. He and Susan have two adult daughters.
